Eli misinterpreted Hannah's actions and on his misunderstanding challenged her. Hannah corrects Eli and speaks up for herself. Hannah returns with her family to Shiloh/ and soon finds she is pregnant. She gives birth to a son whom she names Samuel. Once weaned Hannah fulfils her vow and dedicates her son to God.
