Samuel receives the divine call to the office of Prophet. In the land of Israel, our reading tells us that the word of God is precious, which has the meaning of rare or uncommon. God withdrawing His word points to a nation's corruption. God will restore his word to Israel through calling Samuel thus showing His grace and mercy to all.
