Saul fails to destroy the Amalekites as ordered by God, he spares the king and the best of the livestock. The soldiers support Saul but once again the responsibility is Saul's as he disobeys and adapts to suit his own purposes. Also in this passage God speaks to Samuel from which we find even more practical lessons.
