Hatred against the Lord's anointed and the faithfulness to God of Jonathan the son of Saul.

A Practical Study by Dr Nick Needham

Saul became David's enemy continually and here we see it in practice as Saul seeks to murder David having a murderous rage against him. David is an illustration of the world's hatred against the Lord's anointed. Saul confides in Jonathan and brings a dilemma of loyalty to his son. Does he give his loyalty to his friend the Lord's anointed (David) or his father, King Saul. What we see and learn from is the godliness and faithfulness of Jonathan to his God.
