The portion of Scripture examined during this time of worship is that of the parable of the prodigal son or the parable of the lost son. This is the third of three parables told by Christ in response to the criticism "he eats with sinners". Christ does not deny he eats with sinners rather tells his critics the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son. Simply Christ is declaring what he has come to be - a saviour of sinners. In the exposition we see the prodigal son is a separated and repenting son. We see the father set out before us as a receiving and rejoicing father.
